Walter Niedermayr, born in Bolzano in 1952, is a photographer with a very personal message which, although critical, remains detached. The creative element in his work is closer to painting than to photography and displays a contemplative attitude toward mass tourism and the despoliation of the Alpine environment. Walter Niedermayr's work has been exhibited world-wide and in 1995 he received the European Photography Award. He has published two exceptionally beautiful books, portraying the mountain world with subtle abstraction and unfailing artistic consistency.
